Have you ever wondered what lucid dreaming actually is?
It’s in the media a lot when pertaining to drugs or substances but it actually has nothing to do with that!
Lucid dreaming is when you are becoming aware that you are dreaming during the dream itself. Pretty cool, huh?
It also sounds hard to test too, but since dreaming takes place in REM, scientists figured out a way to measure lucid dreaming. When we sleep all our muscles are paralyzed besides our eye muscles. With that, our eye muscles provide a communication pathway to discovering lucid dreaming. In an experiment, it was noted that when our eyes move three times to the left they are saying that they are now lucid. Or three times up, signifying that they are flying, and three times up and down to the left to clench their hands.
So, instead of associating lucid dreaming with your favorite Tame Impala song, remember that it is actually a function of dreaming.
